The Standard Bank Pro20 Series in South Africa is back for another rocking season on Wednesday, 3 February, when the Nashua Dolphins host the Nashua Titans at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead (Durban).
The 2009/10 season aims to further entrench the Standard Bank Pro20 as the leading sportainment property on the domestic sporting calendar.
Congratulations to Egypt who won the finals of football’s Orange Africa Cup of Nations Angola 2010 on Sunday by beating Ghana 1-0.

Following the final, two very special and impressive awards were handed to the tournament's superstars: Mohamed "Gedo" Nagy, Egypt’s #15 was presented with the “Standard Bank Discovery of the Tournament” award. His teammate Essam El Hadary #1 was awarded the “Standard Bank Goalkeeper of the Tournament”.
Artist captured the essence of township living
Submitted by Standard Bank Team on Mon, 2010/01/18 - 12:54A retrospective exhibition of Ephraim Ngatane’s work, will run at the Standard Bank Gallery from 9 February to 13 March 2010.
Ngatane made a marked impression on the art of the 1950s and 1960s, creating artworks that captured the essence of township living and that conveyed emotion and depth. Although many artists of that time used the township as their subject matter, what set Ngatane apart was his approach, which included a wide spectrum of colour and geometric shapes.
A hardcover book on Ngatane, entitled “A Setting Apart”, edited by Rory Bester, will be launched at the opening.
Standard Bank brings Abedi Pele and Orange Africa Cup of Nations trophy to South Africa

The draw for Afcon takes place in Luanda, Angola, on 20 November. The tournament itself runs from 10 to 31 January 2010.
“The Standard Bank Trophy Tour gives Africa’s fans the opportunity to connect with and embrace what African football has to offer while viewing the trophy at close quarters in their own countries,” said Pele, Standard Bank’s football ambassador.

Here was the final day of Standard/Stanbic Bank’s Trophy Tour in Uganda, and it had all gone by at a non-stop frenetic pace.

The night must have gone by in a flash, because the events of the day before were still playing on my mind when, on Saturday morning, I embarked on day two of the Trophy Tour in Uganda.
Early morning trips took me and the rest of the group to two radio stations.

I am back in my second home and feeling re-energised about the Standard/Stanbic Bank Trophy Tour.
I arrived in the Uganda capital last night, where I had a quick chat with the waiting press and then got much needed rest at the plush Serena Hotel before getting the show on the road this morning.

If there was a movie made about the second leg of my Orange Africa Cup of Nations Standard Bank Trophy Tour of Zambia that took our entourage to the rural town of Mazabuka, it would certainly be titled "A Street Called Abedi."
