How about giving cash-strapped end-of-month struggling students (or other clients) a TINY bit of credit. I mean a little goodwill can go a long way so here's what I propose.

Electronic statements no limit in history

I have approached Standard Bank about receiving my 5 years historical statements in electronic format.

They can't do that, NO, I must pay +-R15 per paper statement which is posted to my branch which works out at about R10,000.
I can't believe that you cannot press a few computer buttons and email me the data so I can save time and import into my accounting system, we are going backwards and not forwards.

When I load airtime for myself and my partner, I have to do his first and then mine...why can the screen not ask you if you would like to do another airtime transaction before throwing you out?...or even if you want to do another transaction?

Hi,

Why don't Standard Bank send an SMS to their clients on their Birthdays?
All clients B'days are captured during the account opening process and an automated SMS can be used to trigger the message on the day.
Clients will feel more touched and feel good to be cared about.

Biodegradable credit/debit cards

Cards should be made from biodegradable materials, such as the biodegradable corn cards Woolworths uses for their gift cards.

And instead of two separate cards, why not combine both Cheque and Credit cards into a single card?

We're already aware that FNB offers banking via the popular MXit real-time chat application. It makes banking faster while maintaining safety (I assume safety because there are many regulations that the service has to first meet).

I think it would be a great idea for Standard Bank to follow suite. Copying the idea is a bit of an over kill, but offering a stand alone cellular application has many benefits:

The idea is fueled by the provision for faster service.

One day at an Eastern Cape, East London, Oxford Branch. I was printing a three month statement, which would be about 27 pages long. Judging by the long time it takes to print one page (roughly about 15 seconds), I knew that it would bring a lot of frustration to the customers behind me, but there was nothing I could do for them at that point in time. This scenario and the queue behind me got me thinking.

I think Standard Bank should have a Panic Pin Code. When you are held up or see someone trying to break into the ATM, you can just put in your card, punch in your Panic Pin Code and then Standard Bank will notify the nearest Police station stating the location of the ATM.
