Congratulations to Egypt who won the finals of football’s Orange Africa Cup of Nations Angola 2010 on Sunday by beating Ghana 1-0.

Following the final, two very special and impressive awards were handed to the tournament's superstars: Mohamed "Gedo" Nagy, Egypt’s #15 was presented with the “Standard Bank Discovery of the Tournament” award. His teammate Essam El Hadary #1 was awarded the “Standard Bank Goalkeeper of the Tournament”.

Just recently displayed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, the exhibition opened on 6 August and runs until 19 September. Curated by the late Alan Crump, who was associated with the award as Chairperson of the National Arts Festival Committee (1990 – 1999), and Barbara Freemantle, curator at Standard Bank Gallery, the exhibition includes two works by each of the award winners to date:

Standard Bank Joy of Jazz is proud to announce the launch of a five-day practical workshop for women arts writers, The Lady Porcupine Arts Journalism Workshop, which takes place from 24 to 28 August in Newtown.
The workshop will be run by Gwen Ansell, music/jazz writer and journalism trainer, and guests include international media trainer Fiona Lloyd, poet Myesha Jenkins and historian of women in jazz Ceri Moelwyn-Hughes. There will also be opportunities to interact with Joy of Jazz festival role-players.
