There is no Trojan threat

In an effort to ease your mind in terms of the Trojan rumours, we want to give you a brief update;

· It is safe for all customers to use Standard Bank Internet Banking.
· Standard Bank can confirm that there is no Trojan on the Internet Banking portal.
· It appears that users with certain Kaspersky anti-virus products have been affected. The Kaspersky definitions contain an entry that falsely identifies legitimate functionality as malicious.
· Standard Bank is liaising with Kaspersky to update the definition. It is recommended that customers apply new Kaspersky updates once they are available.

What is a Trojan?
A Trojan is a program that appears to be legitimate, but in fact does something malicious. Trojans are often used to gain backdoor access, which means they will have access to all of the users information, passwords included.
